BEHIND THE SCENES
I encounter the most incredible, heart warming or thought-provoking individuals, communities and initiatives whenever I'm on shoots. Shoots never go the way they were planned-- they always go better! Every "delay" or "mishap" tends to bring me closer to truths that remind me why the story needs to be told. On this page I'll keep you updated on the magical exchanges that happen on my shoots, leaving me enriched with a new pair of eyes.
THEY'RE IN IT FOR THE EARTH - MEET SIERRA LEONE'S YOUNG 'ECO-PRENEURS'
It was the biggest, longest and most challenging project I had been commissioned for at the time - filming a 30 minute episode for CNN Inside Africa. After 8 consecutive days of being in the field, I thought I would break. And then, in the middle of her interview, Haja broke into tears when she said "I feel like I am living my grandmother's wildest dreams". And I knew then, that I had to keep going.
THE KIDS ARE GONNA BE ALRIGHT
I just pray they are given access to all the best resources, opportunities, mentorships and avenues to live their dreams. They shared their hopes with me and it filled my belly. They will forever be in my prayers.
KHADIJA THE SOLAR ENERGY QUEEN
Khadija was not the focus of the business story I was filming for a CNN African business program called Marketplace Africa. She didn’t even make it on to my rough cut, nor the final piece produced by the show’s editor. But she was the one who made my year.
REPRESENTING MODERN SIERRA LEONE CREATIVES
When it was time to put together the rough cut, every SOT was important to me. I couldn’t pick one story line to follow. He gave me more than I had asked for. He gave me more than my interview questions. He gave me all of him.
