Mariama Wurie is an Education Specialist, a Communications Specialist and a Freelance Journalist and Multimedia Producer.

In the education space, Mariama has served as a consultant/advisor for organisations that span UNGEI, the World Bank, Plan International and Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Senior and Secondary Education (MBSSE). Her work specialises in the sub-fields of; Communications for Education (C4E which includes SBCC and edutainment programs); gender transformative education; universal design for learning/inclusive education; and innovation and EdTech for strengthening public schools in low-and-middle-income countries.

A strategic communications and communications for development (C4D) specialist, Mariama has consulted on programs that span public health advocacy, public education advocacy and emerging markets across the IFC, UNICEF, multiple solar energy start-ups and more.
​
By night, on weekends, and sometimes on Thursdays— Mariama is also a Freelance Journalist, Presenter, and Multimedia Producer reporting on pan-African current affairs for news networks that include BBC, CNN and Deutsche Welle to name a few.

Mariama says her focus is on fostering dignity and positive sustainable opportunities in a region she has a semi-functional relationship with— the African continent.

She drinks a lot of coffee (black Americano, no milk and no sugar) and believes a lot of her work comes from the power of a good medium roast blend.
